Despite it being the middle of summer there were still a number of significant partner moves across the region. In Hong Kong these were across a variety of practice areas including Funds, Regulatory and Capital Markets. These include:
CMS strengthened its funds offering in Asia with the appointment of Paul Moloney as a partner in its Hong Kong office from Mayer Brown who is also joined by Senior Associate Gigi Ma. Moloney becomes CMS’ second Hong Kong partner hire from Mayer Brown in two years, following the move of shipping finance head Conor Warde in February 2023.
UK law firm Simmons & Simmons announced the appointment of Kenneth Hui as its regulatory head for Hong Kong and Greater China. He was previously a counsel at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer.
Withers also welcomes private client and tax partner Laurence Ho back in its Hong Kong office, along with a special counsel, a senior associate and an associate.
In Singapore firms are continuing to grow their Energy & Infrastructure practices. Addleshaw Goddard continues to strengthen its presence in Singapore with the addition of partner Matt Gorman to build a market-leading global infrastructure practice in the region and Orrick Herrington & Sutcliffe has expanded its energy capabilities in Singapore with the latest hire of new partner Michael Tardif from A&O Shearman, where he practised as a partner in Jakarta.
