March has been a busy month for many firms with deal flow picking up across various practice groups. Hong Kong's IPO market is continuing to show signs of revival and the upward trajectory is expected to continue, with PwC projecting Hong Kong's IPO fundraising to reach $16-20 billion in 2025. As a result firms are now starting to look to hire corporate associates across both M&A and capital markets teams. Litigation hiring at associate level continues with partners interested in associates who are able to work across both litigation and arbitration matters.
At partner level Jones Day welcomed Frank Voon from K&L Gates which follows the hiring of Ming Kong from Kirkland & Ellis last month. Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman LLP, which recently transitioned its local operations to a Hong Kong solicitors' firm, has hired Capital Markets partner Samuel Ng. Jessica Li joins Norton Rose Fulbright in their DCM team. Eric Chow & Co. in Association with Commerce & Finance Law Offices continues the trend of PRC firms hiring lawyers from the magic circle and US firms with the hire of Frank Fu from A&O Shearman where he was Counsel.
